Starting with a short informative discussion about energy centers, you will then slowly warm up your body in a way that feels just right for you.
This is NOT choreographed dance at all.
You may sit, lie down, walk, or move in more 'dance-like' ways. Throughout the session I help you maintain your focus on an energy center; she offers imagery that evokes a mind-body connection that matches the music and is customized to you.
All kinds of music, including pop, golden oldies, modern, classic, and new age.
Each piece of music is carefully chosen to activate each energy center, exercise the whole body, and integrate body, heart, and mind. Sometimes the music is slow and fluid, other times crisp and energetic, and sometimes it is evocative and heart-opening. You may walk, "dance," sit or lie down on the floor -- whatever you sense is right for you.
Guided imagery enhances the body-mind integration.
Meditative Dance is an intuitive, self-actualizing, espirit unfolding dance experience that leaves you feeling relaxed, energized, and balanced. People of all ages and ability levels can participate and benefit because the emphasis is on moving to the music in your own way. Chairs are available so you may sit as needed.

Hi there! Just like you,I enjoy moving to music, especially "my music," music that I'm familiar with from my younger years. And it's been fun finding contemporary and classical music that activates and integrates the energy centers.
I encourage you to give Meditative Dance a try. This may well be the meditative practice that is "just right for you." For those who sit most of the day, starting with movement makes it easier to release stress and enter into that delightful state of enhanced awareness and integration of mind-body-heart-spirit. Each time you come you will learn a bit more about how to activate one of the body's energy centers, also called chakras in Eastern traditions.
