Training and Instructional Design

Ms. Lundahl offers a full range of training delivery and instructional design services for programs directed towards public health professionals, mental health and medical care providers.

She specializes in rapid instructional design and her focus is on discerning the specific skill sets (core competencies) to be addressed...followed by designing an effective and efficient way of developing those skills to enhance on-the-job performance... choosing among a wide range of training modalities, including self-instruction, on-the-job training and job aids, distance learning, and face-to-face workshops.

Ms. Lundahl is an accomplished public health profiessional, instructional systems design specialist, and curriculum writer with considerable experience working with Federal public health agencies.  Please see her resume (right).  Highlights of her experience include the following:

*  Training delivery, instructional design, and curriculum writing for the Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC), located at Education Development Center, Inc. in Newton, MA and funded by the Center for Mental Health Services/Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

This project included 1.) the development of a 5-day core curriculum to guide communities in developing a comprehensive suicide prevention program; and 2.) the development of core competencies that formed the foundation for a one-day training program for mental health professionals in the assessment and management of individuals at risk for suicide.


*  Design of a one-day partnership development training for staff members of the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

*  Development and delivery of comprehensive 3 part in-service training for staff members of the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention/SAMHSA using a learning community approach to enhance public health leadership skills.

This training focused on the public health approach to substance abuse prevention and included modules on public health principles, substance abuse prevention research findings, systems thinking, cultural competency, and sustainability of desired outcomes...as well as training in building skills in the delivery of technical assistance.

*  Conversion of a face-to-face training to an interactive online tutorial for mental health, substance abuse, and law enforcement professionals for a cross training curriculum in co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders. This project was funded by SAMHSA.
